Waterfront Director
Responsible to: Program Directors
Start & End Date: June 13 – August 31
Position: Paid
Job Description: Oversee all areas of waterfront (including lifeguards, activities, boating, equipment, etc.). Responsible for making waterfront an inviting, safe, and fun place for the campers and staff. Must understand the relational goals of camp and work to see waterfront be conducive to achieving those goals. Responsible for maintenance (while working with Facilities Manager) to see that all areas of waterfront are working properly and maintained well.
Desired Qualifications:
- Minimum 22 years old
- Aptitude for all skill bases needed (leadership, initiative, maintenance, etc.)
- Lifeguarding experience (current NLS and CPR C) helpful
- Can work in team & independently
- Willingness to be outgoing and enthusiastic
- Flexible & creative
- Can take initiative
Specific Responsibilities:
Organize and establish all waterfront safety procedures including:
- Training waterfront staff and program staff assigned to waterfront
- Organize, maintain and recommend for purchase all safety equipment
- Enforce all waterfront safety regulations and procedures with staff and campers
Develop and organize the waterfront program for the camp:
- Establish skill classes
- Schedule and train waterfront staff
- Organize free time on waterfront
Organize and maintain all waterfront equipment and boats:
- Repair and upkeep
- Recommend products and coordinate purchases
- Organize appropriate storage after use
- Maintain docks, floats, moorings and buildings in partnership with the Facilities Manager, including their placement and removal before and after the summer
Attend weekly senior staff meeting
General Staffing Principles
All staff will actively pursue the ministry of the camp through the application of biblical principles in his/her leadership of and personal relationships with the staff and campers. Staff must be dedicated to showing humble servant attitudes through putting others ahead of themselves, looking for the betterment of the camp as a whole, and helping out not only in tasks, but also emotionally and spiritually in the unity of the staff team.
