Lifeguards
Responsible to: Waterfront Director
Start & End Date: June 20 – August 31
Position: Paid
Job Description: Responsible for ensuring safe and proper lifeguarding procedures during all swim and related activities, and for the daily set-up and take-down of waterfront equipment. Lifeguards will work with the entire staff team to see that the waterfront is an inviting, fun, safe place for campers and staff to enjoy. Also help in other areas to see the whole camp be successful.
Desired Qualifications:
- Minimum 19 years old
- Current and valid NLS certification, lifeguarding experience
- Can work in a team
- Willingness to be outgoing and enthusiastic
Specific Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily set-up and clean-up of waterfront equipment
- Ensure appropriate training of Junior Guards
- Ensure appropriate emergency procedures are in place and practiced in weekly simulations
- Lifeguard during Seatrade and free time blocks
- Lifeguard for special events such as dock jumping
- Assist with special program events as needed
General Staffing Principles
All staff will actively pursue the ministry of the camp through the application of biblical principles in his/her leadership of and personal relationships with the staff and campers. Staff must be dedicated to showing humble servant attitudes through putting others ahead of themselves, looking for the betterment of the camp as a whole, and helping out not only in tasks, but also emotionally and spiritually in the unity of the staff team.
