Head Lifeguard

Responsible to: Waterfront Director

Start & End Date: June 13 – August 31

Position: Paid

Job Description: Responsible for ensuring safe and proper lifeguarding procedures during all swimming and related activities.  Assist with the daily set-up and take-down of waterfront equipment.  Senior lifeguards are expected to provide leadership to Junior lifeguards. Also help with other areas of camp when needed to see camp as a whole be successful.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum 21 years old
  • Current and valid NLS certification
  • Leadership experience
  • Can work in a team and independently
  • Willingness to be outgoing and enthusiastic
  • Flexible and creative
  • Can take initiative

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily set-up and clean-up of waterfront equipment
  • Ensure appropriate training of Junior lifeguards
  • Ensure appropriate emergency procedures are in place and practiced in weekly simulations
  • Lifeguard during Seatrade and free time blocks
  • Lifeguard for special events such as dock jumping
  • Assist with special program events as needed

General Staffing Principles

All staff will actively pursue the ministry of the camp through the application of biblical principles in his/her leadership of and personal relationships with the staff and campers.  Staff must be dedicated to showing humble servant attitudes through putting others ahead of themselves, looking for the betterment of the camp as a whole, and helping out not only in tasks, but also emotionally and spiritually in the unity of the staff team.
